Audio-Technica's internationally patented dual magnet design, identical in structure to the cutting head.
Instead of using a single large magnet, the two magnets are arranged in a "V" shape. The positions of the two magnets are precisely matched to the positions of the left and right channels in the stereo groove walls. As a result, the VM design ensures excellent channel separation, an extended frequency range and sublime tracking.
Microlinear STYLUS
A Microlinear diamond stylus offers high-frequency response with less wear and distortion than elliptical or conventional line-contact styli.
Para-toroidal generating system
Para-toroidal coils improve generating efficiency and offer sublime linearity, since magnetic flux leakage in this continuous, two-part magnetic circuit is low. In addition, the permeability of the cores is optimised thanks to the use of laminated cores.
Centre shield plate reduces crosstalk
A permalloy shield plate in the centre ensures effective channel separation and suppresses electrical crosstalk to below 40dB. This is comparable to the actual crosstalk value in the grooves of the record itself.
