Van den Hul The Goldwater loudspeaker cable
The Van den Hul The Goldwater is a dual loudspeaker cable, specifically intended for areas with increased corrosion activity, such as industrial, coastal and humid tropical areas. The Hulliflex jacket is impermeable to chemicals from the environment, and the embedded gold-coloured filler reflects ultraviolet radiation from the sun, so that corrosive activity on the conductors is kept to a minimum. It is therefore also suitable for permanent professional, commercial and industrial sound installations (churches, shopping centres, airports) and for car hi-fi installations.
Full description
In addition to the excellent impermeability of the HULLIFLEX® jacket material to chemical substances from the environment, which after years of permanent exposure could attack the Matched Crystal OFC strands through their extra-dense protective silver coating, the extra embedded gold-coloured filler material guarantees maximum protection: by exhibiting excellent reflective properties against ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, any corrosive chemical activity on the conductors is kept to a minimum.
The GOLDWATER is specially intended for use as a double speaker cable in areas with increased corrosion activity, such as industrial, coastal and humid tropical areas. Thanks to its maximum corrosion protection, the GOLDWATER is excellently suited to permanent professional, commercial and industrial distribution systems, such as sound installations in churches, shopping centres, airports and the like, and to in-car hi-fi installations.
As with all cabling in corrosive environments, it is important to seal all cable ends properly against air ingress; (polluted) air often flows in and out of cables because of daily temperature fluctuations.
Apart from the extra protective gold-coloured filler material and the extra-dense silver layer on the conductors, the design of the cable does not differ from our CLEARWATER. Besides its UV-protective function, the gold colour is cosmetically very attractive.
Acoustically, this cable is a great product with a well-balanced overall quality. There is no hardness and the spatial reproduction is superior.
Both cables each consist of 98 very pure, dense, silver-coated Matched Crystal OFC strands with an effective cross-section of 1.97 mm², which is very close to AWG 14. The resistance of each cable is 0.9 ohms per 100 m.
The outer dimensions are: 16.6 mm wide and 5.0 mm thick.
The jacket of each cable has a different shape, and the flat middle section between the two cables is printed on one side: both features are handy polarity finders. The printing every 25 cm (10″) makes cutting specific lengths very easy.
