Advance Paris BX2 Smart Line Mono power amplifier

Advance Paris has also built its clever "High Bias" technology into the Smart BX2. A sophisticated technology that is not common in this price class! In the "High Bias" setting, the power amplifier works in Class A at normal listening levels (when not much power is demanded). Connoisseurs know how refined the sound of a Class A amplifier is. But if you would rather play at party levels, you can switch High Bias off with a switch on the back of the BX2. The BX2 then works as a "normal" Class AB power amplifier.

If the BX2 is placed in a cabinet with little ventilation, it is advisable to leave High Bias switched off. With High Bias switched on, the power amplifier runs somewhat warmer than normal.

The signature calibrated analogue meter in the front panel shows the average output power on a logarithmic scale. This means that the needle deflection becomes smaller as the output power increases. With a black housing the illumination is blue, and with the white housing it is white. The brightness can be set to 3 fixed levels or switched off completely.

The latter can be especially desirable if the BX2 is used in a completely darkened home cinema room. Because in such a setup the BX2 will probably be connected to a processor of another brand, there is a function to set the gain (normal, -3, -6 or -12dB) in case the output level of the preamplifier/processor is too high.

The amplifier has an unbalanced and a balanced connection. If long cables are used between the preamplifier and power amplifier, for example longer than 2.5 metres, it is advisable to connect the power amplifier balanced (XLR). Because of its design principle, this type of connection is the least sensitive to external interference.

The BX2 has two loudspeaker connections. The second connection is only suitable for bi-wiring a single loudspeaker.
